Birthday Celebrations in the Classroom

We have been celebrating birthdays like crazy in our classroom and it is only the third week of school!  We have been blessed with a ton of September birthdays (I have a very young class) - we have had four birthdays already and we have two more this month!  I only have 21 students, so it is amazing how many were September babies!

This post contains affiliate links. I earn a small commission each time someone makes a purchase using one of my links, which helps to support the blog.  All opinions are my own and I only promote brands and products that I have used myself and truly love.

On each child's birthday I force ask them to wear this crazy birthday hat that I had picked up on one of our family vacations at Disneyland.  We then take their picture and sing to them.

I also give them a Smencil attached to a birthday balloon template that I got here from What the Teacher Wants.

My 7th graders loved the tradition, and my 3rd graders are loving it too!

What do you do to celebrate birthdays in your classroom?

  1. So cute! I used to have a birthday hat, but we aren't allowed to use it anymore.... lice issue.

  3. Hi glad to have found your blog! I am so sorry you no longer have a smartboard. I have had one my whole career except the 1st 2 years and I don't know how I would teach without one. I love your birthday hat! My mom does almost the same thing to us on our birthdays. In my classroom, I try to make it a big deal. This year I made up those silly straws that have been all over pinterest. We haven't had a bday celebration yet. Looking forward to the first one soon!
