Five for Friday - July 18, 2014

It's Friday!  Fridays in summer just don't have the same meaning, but one thing is the same - time to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

This last week has felt kind of like the grand finale of a fireworks display.  You know how they send a ton of different fireworks off all at once?  I feel like this week has been a rush of activities getting ready for the end of summer. Although our kiddos don't go back to school until August 18th - I go back for training and PD on the 31st!  Where is my summer going???

My week started out last Friday with the TpT conference!  I had so much fun and learned a ton!  If you want to read more about my experience (along with my notes from the conference) you can find a link to all of the posts I wrote with my notes here.  That is Natalie from File Folder Heaven.  She has had a website for YEARS but has only recently started selling on TpT.

The day after I got back from the TpT conference we went to the water park for my hubby's company picnic.

Then the next day my husband's uncle came to visit from Boise.  He has a time share in Reno (about 35 minutes west of where we live) and he reserved us a room to staycation with him.

We had to have a silly and serious pose!

Here was my view for the rest of the week:

We spent a lot of time at the pool!

And we finished this crazy week last night at a Reno Ace's ball game!

It was a crazy week for sure!  I hope you had a good week too.  Link up and share!

, Five for Friday - June 27, 2014

Time to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching!

I am full swing into summer now (I can't believe it has been almost a whole month!), but I am definitely keeping busy working on things for next year.  I went into my classroom this weekend, but it wasn't quite ready for me yet.

The tables and everything else are pushed against the wall ready for the janitors to clean the carpets.  I did manage to pull out my laminator and got some laminating done.  Luke also kept busy with math manipulatives.  He put his uniform on to go to school today (he cracks me up)!

He is going to be in my class this year and I am both excited and nervous about that.  Have you ever had your own child in your class? Any tips or advice?

Tyler has also been doing his share of out of school work reading up a storm.  It makes me chuckle because I asked him last week what he was reading and he said, "Nothing, reading is boring!'  I told him that he just hadn't found the right book yet, but reading is exciting, and when he finds the right book he will love it too. I truly believe every person is a reader waiting to find the right book to hook them.  Anyway, we went to Barnes and Noble for me and he saw a poster of a baseball book on the windows as we made our way in.  We looked for it and found it and he has been reading ever since.  Point made!

Speaking of baseball, my husband took our two baseball fans, Tyler and Luke to the A's game with Luke's baseball coach.  They had a blast!

Bet you can't tell he's a fan, can you?

Tyler was ready to catch any foul balls.

Yesterday we spent a relaxing day at Donner Lake.  This was my view for most of the day.

We rented paddle boats for part of the morning.

Hubby and the boys out on the lake.  Paddle boats are quite the workout let me tell you!
But, we had a blast and the views were amazing!

Luke even found a friend - a little frog.  He asked if he could keep him, but I told him "NO!"

I am such a mean mom!

While we were at the lake I got a bit of reading in as well getting ready for my next book study on The Together Teacher.  If you haven't entered to win a copy yet, head over here.

Have a great weekend!

Five For Friday June 6, 2014

My first week of summer vacation is over and it is Friday!  Time to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching!

Since I didn't post last week, I felt like I might need to fill you in! Memorial Day Weekend had a rocky start.  I was looking forward to my three day weekend, summer preview when...

Tyler had a baseball tournament this weekend, and Cody asked to play at the park with Luke.  I got a frantic call from his cell phone from another kid at the park saying that Cody had broken his arm.  I ran over there and sure enough his arm was twisting a way that an arm should not twist.  We rushed him to the hospital where they decided he would need surgery to reset it.  He was so brave and such a trooper, but 10 hours at the hospital was rough.

He is now happily sporting a pink cast.

On the last day of school, I received the best gift ever!

Each of my students placed their hand print along with their name on the fabric, and then a parent helper sewed and quilted it.  I love it!

My third child graduated from high school last week and I can tell you, it hasn't gotten any easier - the tears flow just as hard for the third as the first.

This year he was a T.A. (teacher's assistant) in the special education classroom. He really loved working with the students in that class.  Not only did he want a picture with him and his best friend, but he also wanted a picture with one of his "students" from his class.  He said of all the kids in school he will miss the ones in that class the most!  If film making doesn't work for him, I think he might have a future in special ed!

While we waited for the ceremony to start, Luke played with my cell phone and took a million selfies.  These are just a few!

He also gave me a glimpse into the future later that night...

During our first week of vacation we were able to celebrate Cody's 12th birthday at Dave and Busters.  What a way to honor his last year before he becomes a teenager! Where does the time go????

It is that time of the month again.. time to win a $25 gift card from Teachers Pay Teachers!
