What is Subitizing?
Subitizing is the a form of number sense where you can instantly recognize the number of objects without counting. We use this skill when you play a board game that involves rolling dice. You instantly "know" how many dots are on the dice.
One key part of effective subitizing is developing pattern recognition. These Valentine's Day Color by Code worksheets give your students the practice they need with counting dice, tally marks, dominos, ten frames, unifix cubes, and counting fingers.
Students will quickly look at the number representations in the coloring space and then will look at the key to determine which color to color in their pictures.
When Can I Use These Valentine's Day Subitizing Color by Number Worksheets?
These Valentine's Day Subitizing worksheets can be used as a whole group activity, as a math center, extra practice with a small group, or even sent home as extra practice. They also make quick and easy additions to sub plans!
