The Hate U Give is a great read for you or your students if you teach older kids. I loved the movie and absolutely had to read the book after I saw it! It is almost 50% off on Amazon right now.

I absolutely love anything written by Jacqueline Woodson, and The Day You Begin is no exception. It is a great book about feeling different and out of place, but having the courage to push through anyway. All of your students will relate in some way to this one!

If you are looking for a great professional development summer read, I cannot recommend the Reading Strategies book by Jennifer Serravallo enough! I did a book study on it a few years ago which you can check out here. The book is on sale right now!
