100th Day of School Color By Number Worksheets Subitizing or Number Recognition

These 100th Day of School Color by Number worksheets are a great way to celebrate 100 Days in School while also practicing your students' subitizing or number recognition skills!

What is Subitizing?

Subitizing is the ability to instantly recognize the number of objects without counting.  You probably have used this skill without knowing what it was called every time you play a board game that involves rolling dice.  You instantly "know" how many dots are on the dice.

According to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, one key part of effective subitizing is developing pattern recognition.  These 100th Day of School Color by Number worksheets give your students practice developing pattern recognition using dice, tally marks, dominos, ten frames, unifix cubes, and counting fingers.

Students will quickly look at the number representations in the coloring space and then will look at the key to determine which color to color in their pictures.

Number posters make number recognition, counting, adding, and subtracting super fun and interactive!  They are perfect for your preschool, kindergarten, or first grade classroom!

Getting Number Posters Ready

This resource is super easy to prep!  Just print out each number poster. I recommend laminating each poster for durability!

Using Number Posters in the Classroom or at Home

You can use these number posters in many different ways! 

1. Hang the numbers up on the wall for students to reference throughout the year.

2. You can use each one as an anchor chart as you introduce each number.  As the numbers are introduced, they can be placed on the wall for student reference. 

3. Place in a math center. You can have students use pointers to point to the different parts of the poster to increase math vocabulary. Students can also use them as reference for their number writing skills.
