One of my favorite books to start off the school year as a writing mentor text is How I Spent My Summer Vacation. It is a hilarious twist on the good old school essay.  The main character, Wallace, insists that he was taken off by a bunch of cowboys who teaches him their ways.

I always have my students write their own imaginary version of their summer vacation each year.  The results are amazing!

Crenshaw is written by the author of The One and Only Ivan, which is one of my class favorites every year.  This one is about a little boy going through a tough time who is visited by his old imaginary friend.  Tear jerker for sure!  It's on sale on Amazon right now!

Weather Color By Number

My students absolutely love my color by number worksheets!  I wanted to make fun weather versions to go along with our weather reading unit.  These are perfect math fact practice for math centers, independent work, fast finisher activities, to leave with a sub, and more!

I love that they can't wait to practice skills such as addition and multiplication while coloring fun weather themed color by number worksheets.

I have always loved reading and re-reading The Giving Tree. It's another freebie with Kindle Unlimited.

The Branches series of books are great for your readers who are just starting to branch out into chapter books.  One of my students' favorite series is The Dragon Masters series.  You can get book 13 on sale right now.
